Lean beef as part of a healthy diet
Beef has gained a reputation as a significant source of fat and saturated fat. It is, to a degree, a reputation that is earned. But to be fair, many of the things associated with beef contribute to its unhealthy image: the fiberless white bread, the fat-laden bacon and cheese toppings, the pile of potato sticks drenched in hydrogenated oil, the can of sugary colored water.
At Laura's Lean Beef, we can't put fresh vegetables on your plate, but we do raise leaner breeds of cattle and use farming methods that yield exceptionally lean beef. The result? Beef that's so low in fat and saturated fat it meets the USDA's standard for "lean" or "extra lean."
Laura's Lean Beef is an excellent source of high quality protein, and offers significant amounts of B vitamins, potassium, iron, magnesium, zinc and selenium.
Of particular importance for many women is the fact that the type of iron found in red meat is more easily absorbed by the body then that found in vegetables, beans and grains; consuming lean beef along with these other foods can help our bodies absorb more iron from the non-meat foods.
